Closing the Financial Gap

Eligible youth ages 14 to 26 can access a variety of individualized career and educational services through Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funded programs to help youth overcome employment barriers. These services are designed to help establish job readiness skills, develop leadership qualities, explore career opportunities, participate and engage in adult and peer mentoring activities, and work experience or internship opportunities.

It is the goal of Acadiana Workforce Solutions to enhance youth education, continue support for educational attainment, provide exposure to the work of work through apprenticeship, career exploration, job shadowing, and internship opportunities, and enrollment in post-secondary education that ultimately will lead to a career with self-sustaining wages. Additional services may include:
  Tutoring, Study Skills, and Dropout Prevention
  Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling
Financial Literacy Education
Labor Market Information
Entrepreneurial Skills Training
Supportive Services

Please note, Youth will be required to provide documentation for eligibility determination purposes.

Eligibility Process

If you are seeking financial assistance from Acadiana Workforce Solutions, you must qualify for such assistance. In order to complete the eligibility review, you will need to provide the following documents when meeting with one of our staff members:

  Proof of U.S. citizenship or ability to work in the United States
  Proof of income for all working household members, including name, address, and phone number of the employer, work hours/days, rate and schedule of pay
  Proof of income received from other sources such as Department of Children and Family Services including SNAP Benefits, Child Support, SSI, etc.
  If you were laid off due to no fault of your own, proof of layoff such as letter from employer and/or unemployment insurance benefit documentation
  Proof of school status including registration documents, schedule of classes, etc.
